Ruby Dolls Boutique

These are the links to the business being conducted by my colleagues and I, at Ruby Dolls Boutique and my indivual contribution to the business, Curse...I hope to be expanding into pattern cutting and ready to make knitting patterns with materials as the knitted vessels that I have been making take too long to make and just aren't cost effective.

benefits of using the worst quality of materials

I love this concept. "The concept is taking the worst traits and way to cut wood, and utilizing it into something beautiful. Rift is cut from a Raw edge of wood, the most undesirable cut, which is then cut on the end grain, the weakest and most probable to warp. This is then bonded to a rubber core (future plans of using polylactic acid core) in order to hold water and allowing water to wash up on the wood to have a blossoming affect when used." I'd like to see if I could utilise this ethos in my own work...save some money on materials hehe

design idea

As of the 14th January I will be taking the Exporing Creative Business Elective as part of my degree. To this end I will be posting inspirational works I find that will aid me in developing one or products that will be sold for charity. This charity will have to be discussed with my group members as will the items we produce.

I just need to point out as a general disclaimer that any views expressed in this blog are mine and not the university to which i'm affiliated with.

I'm just showing this image of this beautiful lumen oil lamp by Adam Frank as I think it would be a lovely and cheap idea to expand on for the project.

I would also like to use this opportunity to point out a small business that is already being run
with colleges on my course which is called Ruby Dolls Boutique http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=428299792

Well, this is my first blog, ironing out the kinks, so to speak.
