Right, I'm just updating this as a few people (half the class! :P) haven't been in for a while so, as we have to have several things ready by next Wednesday, (25th feb) here's what's been going on: (Not sure what people know so here goes)
1. We've decided to go with acrylic necklaces and other easily made jewellery pieces, some variety might be nice :)
2. As we dont have class on wednesday, due to the open tour thingy, we're using this to our advantage and need to have 5-6 designs each, mounted and impressively presented to show to prospective students to give us some market research. We will also need a questionnaire asking what people would people be willing to pay, what other designs they'd want and colour options etc. Would one of you guys mind working that out between you? cos I've already done quite a bit in the group and tbf, we're getting marked individually and it would be better for your mark too if we did bits with everyone contributing? For the record, thats not a nag, its just that I have other projects to be getting on with too and this is taking up too much time >_<
3. I've set up a date for all our work to be completed by: MONDAY 16TH MARCH!
So it's gonna be tight. we're all gonna have to talk to our teachers about skipping that day >_<
This was so that it coincided nicely with Red Nose Day and has good, heavy traffic in the SU...we'll have a stall for our pieces and enough space for the 1st year girls (the other group, I realise you're 1st year too Steph but I don't know the other lasses names) to set up their racks for the Swop-a-top idea.
4. If anyone sees Alan Phillips can you grab him and ask him if he knows of any cheep suppliers of chain through the uni? I went to see him today but he wasn't in and I'll catch him on friday, its just in case you see him :)
5. any ideas of what colours we want the acrylic?

6. One of us need to be looking to be making flyers that can be produced in Artlab? that is, the flyers in Victoria building want to be produced on silk/fancy mats to show off our skills as textile students (this can probs be used later on in our portfolio to show what we've been involved in) with cheep posters for the rest of the buildings in the uni and at the SU reception desk...Ruth has already said we can use her colour printer so that should cut costs :)
This will have to be co-ordinated with the other group though as its more urgent for them then us..but it'd be nice to have flyers that mention us both :)

ReplyDeleteI can certainly meet up with you lot on Monday lunch time to sort through design ideas and such, I think if we can get after lessons on Monday to look at putting together flyer designs too it'd be a lot more prodoctive, maybe? If you can make it? I don't know what your lessons/schedules are like. Or Tuesday if possible? Whenever we can fit it in really. I just think the more time spent as a group going over design ideas the better. If we can get in front of a computer all together at the same time, I think the flyer designs will only benefit.

4. theres still that metal place we havnt been, would you think they be selling chains too?? you know....metal all together?o_O
5. i was thinking we should have like a red theme, linking it with red nose day?? Then Black and white, 2 basic colours....and maybe the mirror as its quite popular~
6. are we making silk posters???? that would be quite pricey, we need to discuss what sort of info we want on it first~

Steph, I think you're right about doing it after class, it doesn't cut us short then :D I just said monday as it seems we're all in victoria building on monday? or did I get mixed up?
ReplyDeleteHannah, you can do anything you like hun, I just thought acrylic as its the least time consuming...but you really have control over your creative flair :D
2.I'm not sure about the mountboard, maybe if we have just have one mount board with all of our designs on then its less confusing? but maybe just an A4 board each? then we can do it last minute the night b4 if we have to?
3.I dunno bout selling ruby dolls boutique stuff hun, I mean, we're donating whatever profit we're making so its really up to you hun :)
4. Its just getting there hun, if you can get there that'd be great but I'm really struggling to get the time in the week to get there,myself >_< (I only have weekends free)
5. I think thats a good idea about the red, have you had a look at the websites I linked? just so we have an idea about costs. I'm hoping Ruth can get some money out of the uni as a float (which gets paid back) as I'm so skint its unbelievable >_<
6. The silk posters were an ideas of Ruths, I don't really know about the logistics of it...I'm gonna ask Bev about the artlab thing on friday
